Help ease my mind about RV choice

Wife and I have been looking for a towable for about 3 months now. We have looked at everything. (Just look at the history of my posts to see my diverse questions) All we know at this point is we either want a TT or 5th Wheel, with either a bunkhouse or Living Space. (How is that for narrowing it down) :)

Seriously though, I am seeing things that scare me about either type of RV. Tow vehicle is 2016 f-250 Diesel.

Looking at 5th wheels, we found some lighter floor plans that we like and I would be comfortable towing. However, I have a short bed truck and from the horror stories I am reading, it is just a matter of when, and not if I will bust out a back window or crush the rails of my truck. I am not even sure I could pull into my driveway or not, because it drops down sharply from the road, before leveling off. I have 20" tires on my truck, so I don't know if it is even possible to get enough bed clearance. The only hitch that looks like it could possibly work is the Pullrite Superglide, but the weight scares me because I only have a 3/4 ton truck, and would not be able to remove the hitch from my truck. I also like the Andersen Ultimate, but in the forward position I am afraid I would hit my back window, and in the back position, I am afraid I would hit my bed rails or tailgate. :(

So, we look at TT. However, we would need a 36 or 37 ft model to fit our needs, and I have read horror stories about how much harder it is to pull that long of a TT compared to a 5th wheel, and also about how the better WDH (Hensley and Propride) have had catastrophic failures. So that scares us.

Here is what we do know.

My wife and I love camping. We did it extensively with a pop up when our older kids were young, and would love to do it now before our youngest is out of the house. We are definitely too old for a pop up, and we have a decent TV and the means to buy a decent RV right now. We want at least a mid-size rv, because we want to be able to accommodate our older kids and their families at times. Plus we remember trying to cram into a pop up, and if we are going to spend the money on a RV, then we want some room to spread out, so to speak.

If you are still reading this, then I thank you. I know I am being paranoid (Even though I am paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me) but the horror stories of hitch failures and crushed bed rails and back windows and other towing issues scares me. (My wife is staying out of the technical stuff, she just wants to camp) Please help ease my fears.

Thanks

Tim
