There is a reason to be suspicious - People using bogus therapy dogs

Much ado about nothing. Seems to me a lot said about an extremely minor issue. Simple courtesy from both parties would have resulted in a better outcome.

According to the California Code, section 54.1:

Individuals with disabilities shall be entitled to full and equal access, as other members of the general public, to accommodations, advantages, facilities, medical facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and physicians' offices, and privileges of all common carriers, airplanes, motor vehicles, railroad trains, motorbuses, streetcars, boats, or any other public conveyances or modes of transportation (whether private, public, franchised, licensed, contracted, or otherwise provided), telephone facilities, adoption agencies, private schools, hotels, lodging places, places of public accommodation, amusement, or resort, and other places to which the general public is invited, subject only to the conditions and limitations established by law, or state or federal regulation, and applicable alike to all persons.

If you look closely, Individuals with Disabilities (including their service animals) are entitled to full and equal access to "accomodations" & "lodging places" which covers RV Parks.

And section 54.2 of the California code extends those same rights to Service Animals in Training.

Makes no difference that it's a privately owned business or private property.

I had a severely disabled daughter who passed away a few years ago. I head the Disability Ministry at my church. I have a friend confined to a wheel chair. I mention all of this to show I have experience with the disabled community.

One of the problems that I constantly see is some of the disabled thinking that they should have special privledges above and beyond others while most disabled people are appreciative just being treated as all others.

I never expected anything more for my daughter.

Op indicates she was aware of the ADA regulations and in compliance. Also that the dog had it's vest on and-- if she was in compliance it had the required I.D. tag. No argument about providing your medical records.- unless you go with the reply "why not give them what they want"

So 6 pages of criticism with a bare minimum of facts and I'll bet we can't resolve this problem... The OP hasn't returned, probably figured out they didn't need any more help.
We certainly don't know the RV Park side of the story...

My post was meaningful, in that I'm discussing how the California laws that pertain to this subject would apply to a given situation. But there's not enough info here to be sure what the situation really is.

Your commentary about lawsuits and last words doesn't add anything to the discussion, which is about service animals in training and whether they have a right to stay at a California RV park. Since your post adds nothing to the discussion, it has little value.


Back on topic:

Having met a number of legit service dog trainers, I wouldn't want to see them barred from an RV Park like this. That would be unfortunate, and illegal in CA. But they are more than happy to talk to people about their dogs, the training they're doing, and they carry the proper documentation to show their dogs are licensed service animals in training.

It's too bad so many people abuse the ADA and try to pass their pets off as Service Animals.

This is a meaningless response... Why would anyone who wasn't involved file a lawsuit? On what basis would they file it?

If the OP was indeed a legit trainer of service animals, and if they presented the proper proof as outlined by the California Code (posted earlier), then the campground would be in the wrong.

I'm not convinced that the OP is, based on the posts she's made. But we don't really know for sure.
