Mice

We noticed we have a mouse infestation. They were not in there over the winter, since signs of them, poop, was not noticed. Today 2 were caught in a trap, 1 more was also dead & 1 was trapped by his foot. My son released it far away. We will be setting more traps. Is there anything else we can put out there to keep them out and make sure we caught them all?

I used to think this was true until this winter. Cats didn't leave the garage much when cold & I was trapping mice that were under my ground level deck. Once it warmed up cats outside all day, hanging out on the deck, litter box on deck but I still trap a mouse periodically on the deck, even find mouse******in the cats empty food dish, so the smell thing is another myth.

    I agree.
Before I mouse proofed the cottage (I hope) the cat would wake us at night chasing mice, crashing into everything. They never stopped coming in till I blocked all entries. They would come through the eaves into the attic, down the hollow walls. New soffits and fascia stopped that.

Let a cat or two run around in the trailer for awhile. Once the scent gets in there, the mice won't come in. Still need to plug up any holes you can find.

I think that is a sure fire method. We fifth wheel with 3 cats. When not camping I leave the litter box in the camper - after servicing of course. Never had a mouse problem.

My belief is that the meeses can smell a cat and will not go there.

  • Plug what you can and use peppermint oil. It is pricey but I put it on a cotton ball inside a plastic cup. Rodents do not like the smell. I have also used Cab Fresh....it is balsam fir needles etc. It seems to work for me.
  • Find the entry point.
Everything you do is a waste of time till you plug it.
  • We have 4 spoiled cats, I doubt they would even know what to do with a mouse.
  • You need to try and determine where they are entering the rig. It doesn't take very much of an opening for them to squeeze into.
