Does any one know if they will even repair a Micro wave oven ? Every one I have talk too says it's cheaper to just get a new one. Previous Motor Home I had to replace it and had a very hard time finding one that would fit and when I did it sure wasn't cheap. The one in this Motor Home the turn table has quit working. I hit some very rough road in Oklahoma between Texas & Colorado. After getting to the camp ground in Colorado that's when it quit working. I was just wondering if it could be very simple repair. Thanks for your help.

I have seen many of them use a rubber belt from a small motor to turn the plate. Take a look and see if it popped off or broke. MCM electronics used to sell various lengths of rubber belts. Just be sure to unplug it before you remove the cover and stay away from any capacitor......it can be holding a charge.

Microwaves are not consumer repairable. There are very powerful capacitors inside that if handled improperly can cause death. The turntable does not need to work to microwave anything. Just continue to use your microwave.

Use the microwave and turn whatever is inside a 1/4 turn every 2-3 minutes or halfway through cooking if less than 5 minutes.

I'm not even sure why modern microwaves even have that turning table. The old ones used to just have a diffuser in front of the spot where the microwaves come out of. They worked just fine like that.The microwave in my 1993 TT is the original one and it does not have a turntable.

Like Doxie I had to replace that motor on my Dometic by Lousy Goods (LG)

I used a motor from a GE. that was one of two modifications and as I said above. worked great ever since.

We had to replace the little motor that makes the turntable turn. We found the part we needed online. We repaired it because our is also a convection, so not cheap to replace.

Not long after buying a new microwave for the house, the bulb/light burned out. My wife called manufacturer, to ask about getting a new replacement bulb. They said not to try any disassembly to replace the bulb, just wanted serial number, and promptly sent a new microwave (no charge).

Hi,

If you do go the replacement route, look carefully at the Panasonic inverter type units. They actually run with lower power levels instead of just doing an "on/off" cycle.

Nordicware makes a wine up "Turntable" for microwaves without that feature. Get it at most of the SUper stores.. Meijer's (in mi) Wal-Mart, I suspect Home Depot, Lowes and Mennards. Fry's any place that sells kitchen countertop appliances and accessories.

What is the model of the MIcrowave in your RV.

On my RV it came with a Dometic but the model number is an LG. now I have NEVER had an LG Product work as it should NEVER and I've handled a lot of 'em including the only microwave that I have seen designed to burn down your house (or in my case the office where I worked, thankfully someone swiftly extinguished it).

The unit has a design flaw you can fix if you are daring.

Oh. Mine now works 100%.. I'm that daring and fixed it.
