New Roof - Story and Pictures as Promised

We recently had our roof replaced using the RV FlexArmor system. It is pricey, but we plan on keeping our unit " till death do us part"! The system has a lifetime warranty, and obviously don't know if that is a valid claim or not!!!

We brought our unit to RV APR in Mesa,Arizona. And I'll start by saying that, we could not have met a more polite, professional group of people. RV APR is family operated by two brothers, who are very professional and knowledged, despite their youth!

The cost is per linear foot, with additional fees for solar panel removal replacement. Slide roofs can be done as well, but is not a lifetime warranty. The reasons can be explained by Michael (owners son)

This is a spray-on roof replacement, which is 3/16" thick after application. There is a YouTube video showing the process. They remove everything from the roof, clean, inspect, and repair any roofing needing replacement. All roof mounted hardware ( solar panel brackets, ac bases, etc.) are then reattached to the roof. This way, once the material is applied, nothing penetrates the new roof material. Then everything is put back onto their respective mounting brackets/ bases, ect. We also replaced the skylight, all vent covers, refridge cover as well.

Our solar panels (six panels) were installed by previous owner at different times. And, to say the least the workmanship was lacking. Michael completely rewired the system into a new junction box. His work ethics will show in photos!

We also had several ( many) dual pane windows (including the rear picture window) which had lost their seal, repaired. Michael set us up to have these repaired while we were in Mesa.

They gave us some discount coupons, which we can pass on. Contact us if you have any interest using them for your RV!

Gary, I was asked just this morning, not to give the price as, they've offered different prices and an occasional promotional at different times of the year. They don't want "any" misunderstandings.

They charge by linear foot of replaced rubber roof. Any Roof sheathing, solar panel, or satellite system (removal/ installation) is an added expense. The best I can offer, is to measure your existing roof, then call for estimate. Give them your roof details ( a photo would probably help). Example: number of solar panels, satellite dish, skylight, etc. They can then give you a written estimate. If you are correct with your work to be done, and "no" roof damage is found, then you will have an accurate estimate. They will also provide photos as the work is done to keep you apprised of the job scope!

I had them replace all plastic covers on roof, my skylight, and replace my old "crank-up tv antenna, and installed much better roof vent covers. I thought that their prices for these items were very reasonable!

Okay..thanks for the insight.

Thanks for the compliments! Time will tell on how easy to keep clean, but, as it will not "chalk" like a rubber roof...it should be easy. I hate trying to keep the roof clean, and the time/labor involved in maintaining all of the seams on the rubber roof. We've got other things requiring our time, not babysitting the RV. Also, when walking on the "new" roof, I get less flex. I'd conservatively say, it reduced roof flex by about 1/2.

On the cost... each location is individually owned, and pricing will reflect area labor costs! APR RV (APRRV.COM), periodically has promotions....so contact them and get a valid pricing for your particular unit. It's "not" inexpensive, but if you plan on keeping your rig for a long time, IMO worth the cost. Properly replacing a rubber roof is pretty pricey also.

If you go to the FlexArmor web site, you can get lots of pictures, details on application, etc.

There is a also a website ( rvsevicereviews.com) where you can get the opinions of others who have taken this route. Once there, search by keyword (APR RV)! Right now there are 35 reviews, I think!

I'm gambling that I did the right thing....and only time will tell!

Very nice looking. How much per foot and how much does it weigh? It is great when you find a good business that cares about their work and product. I will put them in my notes for future reference.
