Ours has a back flow preventer that keeps black water from flowing back into the hose. Ours does the same thing, but I wouldn't call it a mess. It just sprays a little water back.
The best option would be to disconnect from the supply first, then the black tank rinser. Or just slightly turn the hose to disconnect until water just leaks out. Eventually the pressure will relieve itself.
I don't think a pressure regulator will completely fix the problem because the pressure will still be built up once you turn the hose off. The back flow preventer creates the pressure. A pressure regulator may reduce the pressure, but the water still has to go somewhere. It can't go into the tank and it can't go back into the hose, but it has to be relieved. Or you can just remove the back flow preventer.
