Question about RV Cover and Slides

I am a writer and over the winter, I would like to have a cover on my travel trailer, but I would like to keep the slide out (maybe) so I can sit at my work table and look out the window. Trailer is winterized.

1. We have moderately cold weather here, usually stays above freezing. Is it possible to buy a cover that I could make work with this? It would "stick out" an additional 2 feet.

2. If this is a bad idea, why? (I would put the slide in if we expect snow of course).

3. Has anyone done this?

Afaik, zippers are usually on the entrance side. That said, if straps are loosened, you ° might° get enough slack to open the slide, but would be a pain to get the cover up. Unless there are covers with zippers on that side...

I've never found any reason to put slide in for snow. It MIGHT be a good idea if you plan on OPERATING the slide while snow covered but just being open should do no harm. I've camped in mine with the 40" slide open and with a lot of snow on the roof on several occasions.

The Adco covers have zippers in the side so you can unzip a section and still have access to the door. Depending upon where your slide is, compare it with an actual cover. Apart from this, I don't know of any covers designed to accommodate the slide in the extended position, as almost every camper has a different configuration, it would be an impossible feat for even the best of companies to manufacture. Check into the covers with the zippers designed for access. I've had 2 covers for 2 trailers now, from Adco, and both had different zipper configurations.
