- noe-placeExplorerI took the dinky little factory installed tv out of the cabinet in our 04 Itasca Spirit. It had the roll up door that concealed the tv when not in use. I took the door off, removed the old tv, bolted a brace across the opening to which I attached the bracket for the new flat screen, hooked up the wiring, bolted the new tv onto the bracket and away we went. DW thinks I'm a genius.

I don't have this problem, as I don't have an Inverter, so my TV only works when hooked to shore power or the generator is running, which I don't do when traveling. ;)
BUKHRN - You're probably right. I guess I would try not to give any LEO an excuse to stop me and check something.
I always thought it had to be physically out of the driver position view.
I will check on that for driving here in Virginia... I'm always looking down to my truck information video screen - what would be the difference????
EDIT NOTE: Just looked this DOT REG up
DOT VA 46.2-1077
The last two para state what you said I reckon...
" 8. A television receiver, video monitor, television or video screen, or any other similar means of visually displaying a television broadcast or signal, if that equipment has an interlock device that, when the motor vehicle is driven, disables the equipment for all uses except as a visual display described in subdivisions 1 through 7.
B. Except for displays explicitly authorized in subsection A, no driver of any motor vehicle shall view any motion picture or similar video display while driving."
I guess I stand corrected on having it mounted in view of the driver if it has an INTERLOCK to be off when the Vehicle motor is running...

Why not leave the old TV in place & hook it to the rear view camera? (If that's even possible)Kevarino wrote:
You should be able to find a flip up, under cabinet or ceiling mount for a TV
Thank you. Now how would you make the cavity where the old TV was, attractive? - mpierceExplorerRemove the old cathode ray tv. Get a LED that is a little bit bigger than the opening. Get a mount to hold it right in front of that opening.
The LED's are MUCH lighter, and if your cabinets are any good at all, they will be strong enough to hold the LED tv. - TyroneandGladysExplorerNot fancy but works for us we mounted our TV on the dinette table up against the wall. Easily removed if need be but only takes away 4 inches of the dinette and is across from the chairs and is at eye level while sitting. To cover the opening of the old TV cloth with Velcro

Until you remove it, there is no way of telling how much work it will take or how much or what kind of material will be needed. - D___MExplorerTV checkpoints? Really? :R
