RV goes up on flames on southbound I-476

LOWER MERION, Pa. - June 24, 2013 (WPVI) -- An RV fire shut down the southbound lanes of I-476 in Lower Merion, Montgomery County on Monday afternoon.


The fire happened at mile marker 14.6 near Old Gulf Road.

The view from Chopper 6 showed the camper almost completely gutted by the fire.

There was no immediate word on any injuries.

  • Here's a recent update- cause unknown, but firefighters think it started "in the kitchen area".

    Wonder if it had a Norcold, and if so, if the recall work had been done.
    OR
    Since most fires associated with the infamous Norcold happen when operating on 110v, it would be interesting to know if the fridge in this unit was perhaps being powered by an onboard generator.
