Satellite Hook Up

Anyone with the least bit of mechanical skill should be able to find the correct cables by checking continuity using a simple volt meter.

I just talked to Direct TV earlier this week about adding a dish for the coach & the person I spoke with had no clue as to adding a dish to my coach. Check with your local RV dealer for Dish connection information.

Unless your unit came with Satellite prep, the current coax is likely not good enough.

I'd use RG6 and high frequency compression connectors to be compatible with any future upgrades.

Maybe - The only diagrams I've ever gotten were generic for several models. And that doesn't account for production changes... Plus the lack of physical locations or wire routings.

I had the same problem. Found the dish wouldn't work hooked into the connection because of the Y splitter in the wiring. I installed a dedicated connection box in my storage bay and another close to the TV location. Then ran a coax underneath the MH to connect the two. Now I connect my dish to the box in the storage bay and it works great. Satellite dishes don't like splitters.:)

Does the trailer have a satellite prep? If it does, it should have been a piece of cake. If not you will need to get a cable connection from the location of the Entertainment center to the best exterior location. The coax should be RG56 with the correct compression fittings.

First question, is your RV prewired for Satellite?

If so, connection of your receiver probably from dish to where ever the input jack is for the coach and then from the interior connection to your receiver and then to the tv.

If not prewired, direct connection from the dish to the receiver, may have to run thru a door or slide or create a access thru a outside compartment.

Also keep in mind that generally you have to change your input on the tv to receive the signal from the receiver. Also make sure the power booster switch is Off or it may interfere with the signal.

My coach is both prewired for the roof satellite and for an outside connection. In my electric compartment, there is coax plug for a part connection. Still have to change the tv.

If you do not have a wiring diagram, consider contacting the Manufacture and ask for one. Mine sent me one, only needed my VIN.

Run the coax from the receiver to the nearest storage locker with a barrel connector. Then hook up your dish. Don't even think about running to the rear DS - that's not where the satellites will be vs the typical CG site cable location.

I used a dual tuner receiver and hence 2 dual coax cables 50' and 100' that could be connected to the dish with barrel connectors. Used what coax I needed for those pesky trees!
