The biggest storm of the year {so far} is blanketing the southwest with heavy wet snow... if you listen closely you can hear the snowbirds howling. :BWe live 25 miles north of Tucson at 3,300' and have gotten an inch+ in the last hour or so with another 3 - 4" forecast by noon. Mt Lemon {9,200' and 12 miles east} is getting slammed with several feet of fresh snow.Interstates are closing in every direction and travel is definitely not advised for a couple of days. Wow is it gorgeous, a great day to sit by the fire with a cup of coffee and enjoy our winter wonderland. Sure am glad I winterized the motorhome a couple of weeks ago as tonight should get down into the 20's.Film at eleven!:C

It's darn cold in So Cal, and snow in hills just a few hundred feet higher than sea level. Yeah, I'm howling!

Well...Up here the snow is at least four feet deep.Some of my neighbors can stand on the snowbank and look into their second story windows. Been like that for most of winter.Enjoy it for now, the novelty soon wears off.

It's wonderful. Hopefully we'll get enuf mountain snow throughout the southwest to put some water back in the lakes. I've been in Tucson 45 years and don't remember it ever snowing this much.

Desert Caption I like your house the tile roof looks really sharp. I think the whole country has been colder than normal this year. Here in Colorado we have had more snow this year than last year,the skiers are loving it.

Update from the OP:As of 1030 we now have a solid 3" and it continues to snow. The forecast is calling for continued snow, at times heavy throughout the day and well into tonight. This is the most we have seen in 10+ years.:B

No worries, I should have been more clear about where the closures were. We get pretty excited here in southern Arizona when we get the occasional snow storm. Now about them mosquitos... :B

The interstates were closed in and around Flagstaff where they got closer to 4' of snow overnight. We got 4" outside of Tucson and loved it, gorgeous and no issues.

I was thinking that they were closing the interstates because of the 4 inches of snow. I realize now that it was meant they were closing them because of "several feet of fresh snow". That I understand.

Here in Upstate SC we have snow in the mountains but RAIN!!!!!!! everywhere else. the ID-5100 just switched to Weather alert mode some rivers are already 2 feet over flood stage and expected to go to 5 foot over by midnight tonight.

Thankfully I"m a good 12 feet over so I'm not worried. but.. WOW.

Took the radio quite a while to list all the flood's expected.

My buddy lives in Payson and he got 30" as of last night. They town of Payson has no snow plows.He said a front end loader came through and cleared a path the width of the front bucket so emergency vehicles could get through.He said you could probably sell snow shovels for $100 each.

Snowed pretty hard in the morning, but turned to rain in the afternoon. The dog has never seen snow before and she wasn't too sure where to do 'business'.

It's all melted today though & should be in the 70's next week.

Blizzard heading in this afternoon, 6"-10" and 50 mph gusts.

The West is frozen. It is about to start breaking up soon. If it is cold in the SW then imagine what it is like Monatana right now. It feels like I have moved back to Wyoming.

Flagstaff got 40" yesterday while it rained for over 24 hrs here in Queen Creek. Windier and colder than last winter. Can't wait for the 70's again in a few days.
