Tire prices all over

When you get new tires from a discount house - watch the mfg date. Some are older years and discounted to get them off inventory.

For anyone who's cheap or on a budget, try Craigslist.
I haven't bought a set of tires (except trailer tires) from a store or online in the better part of 10 years. Takeoffs for popular vehicles, especially trucks are plentiful and cheap. And if you search hard, you can find premium tires that someone bought then typically decided weren't big enough and is selling at a serious discount. When you're talking some of these pickup tires that are $400 a pop, $800 - 1000 for a set is a screaming deal.
Last set I bought was a complete set of takeoff 20" Ram 3500 tires and wheels, brand new, $1000. Came out to $800 out of pocket after selling the ratted out old tires and pitted rims.
Previous set of like new Toyo MTs, $900. Set before that, new BFG ATKO, $200 a tire.
I've gotten 2 sets of tires for the wife's car in the last 5 years. Both half price of new.

Trailer tires I only buy new though and last few years etrailer.com has had the best prices and selection for light trailer tires.

did it. Done it. Still pays to shop around. Tires will be here Monday. Well Thursday this week. But I have to work, and can't get them put on till Monday.

Seems services are the same. And since I usually get my oil changed at the tire store. I can get a oil change, and tire rotation at the same time, and best thing. My tire guys store is only 6 blocks away. I can drop off the truck, and ride my bike, or walk home, and then back up to pick up the truck. Also. In truth Goodyears are sold all over. If I wanted to get one while out of town shouldn't be a problem other than this particular tire is not kept in stock at the tire stores.

the nearest Discount tire is 8 miles away. Farther than I want to go.

Tire Rack may look initially to have a good price on the tires but then add in the shipping charges and the cost becomes higher then buying locally. Plus have to get them mounted and balanced somewhere else. I used to buy a lot of tires through them but the past few times, I've found their shipping costs are outrageous.

Just keep in mind for future purposes that Discount Tire will match or beat competitors pricing and you get their free services as well. Plus if you have a problem while traveling there is often one nearby.

I always check tirerack.com before buying tires so I know what to expect as far as price goes. We needed 6 tires for the Motorhome back in April. Tirerack.com was selling the Michelin LX M/S2s for $177 each before tax and shipping. My mechanic sold me the same tires for $199 + $12 mounting/balancing and installing Tireman valve stems. When adding in shipping, my guy was just about the same price. I'd rather give the money to my mechanic.
