I currently have a aqua-magic style II in my 2013 5th wheel .. I had to repair it last year with a thetford water valve kit. Less then 1 yr later I have the same problem, after doing some research I fould that this is a fairly common problem with this model toilet .. called thetford about problem and might as well been talking to a rock. So after doing some research I decided on the thetford Aqua-Magic V. My question is the toilet I have now has a porcelian bowel as the aqua-V is plastic. Is their any advantage of porcelian over plastic? Cleaning/scratcing/stains ... ? Also whated to know any thoughts on floor pedal vs hand flusher.

I've had both, I don't see any advantage or disadvantage. Both had plastic seats. My current camper has a porcelain throne, but a plastic seat. Been think real hard for 3 years now about swapping out that seat for a real wooden one. Haven't done it yet though, I'm still debating. Sometimes, some of the simplest decisions are the hardest to make! :)

I've had two porcelain types. The first had a plastic pedestal with a porcelain bowl which was very shallow. The shallow bowl created some issues but the real problem was the porcelain bowl just broke apart one time when I sat on it.We had an Aqua Magic V and were happy with it except the hand flush (more on that below). We wanted to add a Fresh Spa Bidet attachment so we had to go with a model that used residential toilet seats.The one we have now is an Aqua Magic Style II with a deep bowl and residential toilet seat. The only thing I don't like about it is below the ball valve "stuff" gets stuck and looks nasty when you look inside. Some of it can be cleaned with a toilet brush and the spray attachment.I've had several plastic in older RVs and really don't see the difference.I prefer the foot flush. I've had a couple of each over the years and prefer the porcelain although I'm guessing it likely doesn't much matter.

We've had an Aqua Magic Style Plus with a porcelain bowl since 2008 with zero problems in nearly full time use. I even moved it from our previous coach to our current one a couple of years ago because we like it so well. We much prefer the standard residential seat and the ease of cleaning the porcelain bowl. We would never go back to a plastic toilet...

We've had the Aqua Magic Style Plus for about 5 years. We like the porcelain, but not real happy with the toilet. Replacing next week with Dometic 320.RT

Gee, I've always called it the porcelain Throne..

Plastic is easier to scratch and thus may be harder to clean

Porcelain can break if it suffers impact or over-tightening of mounting bolts in some cases In fact I have seen that happen back when I sold porcelain thrones, And as I was disassembling our display I cautioned the buyer about over tightening several times.. They clearly did not listen.

Over a year fulltiming on our porcelain Dometic. Perfect performance and comfort with the hi-rise seat and elongated bowl. Could have gone with electric push button and all that but simple and well performing is all we want.

That's really a great idea. I stored mine with pure RV anti-freeze in the bowl, and it discolored it something fierce. I didn't want to tell my wife because of course she would have known it would discolor.:R But- it is a porcelain bowl and with just a little scrubbing the color came off. That's about the only advantage over plastic that I can think of.

Never had a problem with my Aqua Magic V. Yes if yo look down the hole with the flush valve open you can see some dried on splashing. It's below the blade valve so I just don't worry about it.

I've had both. I'd say the porcelain is better in appearance and ability to clean hard water deposits off without scratching or damage. Plastic is lighter and may hold some advantages in behind the axle locations or places where weight distribution is important. It is also a bit cheaper..and as far as I can tell the valves etc. are equally durable.

We have an Aqua Magic (not sure model) but it is a high profile with the foot flush, spray attachment and a plastic bowl. I hate the plastic as it does hold odor and will discolor/stain. I use bleach to clean ours and then it smells fresh for a day or two. We will be changing to porcelain when we remodel.
