towing w/ chevrolet Tahoe (looking at buying e2 hitch)

jerem0621- I went to my local rv store today and they DID NOT have the "weld on" type like I need. I followed your link the the Husky brand one on amazon.
From the picture on amazon it looks like everything comes for $49.52...
Also, about the small little rectangle piece... Is this one thick enough to weld on? Also looks like it may need to be cut to make it "rounded" on the ends like yours?
I guess this may not matter, it may just be fine welding on as is with rectangle form

x2! i have the longer/heavier Avalanche and i tow a shorter, lighter HTT and i use the 4-point Equalizer.
i don't think you'll see much improvement in the E2 over what you already have.

Either is a viable option. With an Rv store they will probably weld the mount on for you for just a few bucks. I ordered mine online and installed them myself, but my hitch head has the dual friction bar mount built in.

I have had dual cam sway control and it is a good option. But that's all it is, an option. There are many many options out there. For me there was zero difference in the feel of dual cam sway control and dual friction bar sway control. Both provide great towing experiences when the hitch is set up correctly first.

I would spend $15 at a CAT scale and some time to adjust the WDH. That can have a large impact on how TTs tow. You also find out exactly where you stand with respect to all the TV ratings (GVWR, axle, GCWR) so you are better informed when replacing the TV.

What type of WD hitch do you have right now? if you have the bars with the detents in them it is very easy to add the Dual Cam to it. personally the DC is the minimum you want. and make sure you weigh the trailer and have proper tongue weight (12-13%).

If you have P tires, replace them with LT tires so that you have less sidewall flex. That may be what you are felling.

Stiff side wall tires on short wheel base TV's are a MUST.

So is running a WHD with sway control. The Equalizer E2 will work great for you.

I tow at the max with a Honda Pilot, so I can tell you first hand the tires alone will be a night/day difference.

If sway continues, your set up is bad. Weigh the trailer and find the actual tongue weight, short wheel bases don't like heavy tongues. 10-11% tops IMO. Also check the pitch of the trailer. It should be level of slightly nose down. Not pointed up at all.

Hi jbres,

When you buy your second sway bar it will come with a weld on mount so you can use your current WD hitch. All you need to to do is have the mount welded on to the hitch head as per the instructions. You should be able to get this done for around $20.00.

Here is a pic of my 'permanent' set up with dual friction bars. I have since cleaned and painted my trailer tongue and my hitch so it doesn't look this yucky any more. But it will give you an idea of what you are looking at.



Here is the one that you need.

Husky Left Handed Sway Bar

You technically don't need a "left handed" sway bar, you can use a right one and just flip the slider bar over, swap the on off handle and the torsion bolt and volah, you have a left handed sway bar.

But for $50.00 you get the sway bar, the A-Frame mount, the weld on mount for your hitch head, and all the mounting hardware.

Word of caution.. you may forget about upgrading the hitch after you add your second bar. There are several of us on here who have GREAT towing experiences with simple WD hitches and dual friction bars.

Oh, and I ran the two bars when I had my F150 and it was a great experience. So this is NOT the dually talking that I use now.

Now I just need to find a hitch that has the hook up for the double anti sway because my current one only has the hook up for one.

Jerem0621- That's exactly what I was hoping to do for the cheap quick fix that will give me the control to feel more safe traveling distances (I am almost to that point)

KD4UPL- I removed just some junk from inside my tow vehicle and throughout the tt. Just stuff in general I didn't need to be carrying each week, which gave me enough power to safely tow. It seems I got even distributed weight otherwise throughout tow vehicle and trailer.
