The foaming spray always does the trick for me. The foam expands inside and the bees are done for.

Do now worry about wires.. Cover with plastic bag, and use wasp spray, Remove bag an hour later..... If you can remove mirror front do so later and clean it out (like another hour) if you do not know how to remove mirror front then skip that

But if you spray the cover or inside the bag (Get a good cloud of spray in the bag) wires will not be damaged and unless you have fingers on buttons or mirror heater ON and engine running, No power so do not worry.

As expensive as mirrors are today,I would be real careful with wasp spray.

Most, if not, all contain a "petroleum distillates," which can act as a solvent and melt plastics, as one post here suggests.

I like the shop vac idea.

I have used wasp spray to kill them. After that I put plastic bags on them. Worked fine one year but the next the bags deteriorated in about a month and some of the plastic sort of dissolved and stuck to the mirror body and was a pain to get off. I guess Walmart started using biodegradable bags.

Since that area is open to water from rain and road spray, I don't think wasp spray will hurt.

If you decide to use a shop vac, do this at dusk. That is when most will be "home" or coming in.

If you don't leave the area, keep an eye out as they may try to rebuild.

I sprayed behind my mirrors with wasp/hornet spray and have had no problems. It was a week or so before I used the electric part of the mirror...

Spraying the mirrors is no issue at all as long as you wait a bit for whatever you sprayed in there to dry up before you put electricity to those wires.

For this type of problem a foaming spray with an extension tube would likely work best.
