Question, Why do you have to leave the key on thus causing the GPS to be on?
On my 2011 CR-V I have to leave the key on in order to unlock the steering wheel prior to towing it. I installed a switch onto the fuse so I just flip the switch to turn off the fuse-no more climbing under the dash.
Actually you don't. Try this, turn key to full ON, turn key to full OFF, DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY. Now turn your steering wheel back and forth. Your steering interlock should not engage until you remove the key. And no the key by itself will not fall out of the ignition while towing.
Most all Asian imports built since 2009 have had this "feature" built in to their steering columns and no the manufacturer will never tell you about it.
