Bully Basset

Thanks for replys,if you saw this dog at campground ,you would love her. It was my first time seeing this breed. She was friendly very likeable,thought maybe there were some owners on here.I believe in rescuing dogs ,and have done so.That was funny about the dog snoring. Having owned yellow labs, beagles and other hound dogs,rotweillers and rescued dogs,have always given them a good home,plan to always have some kind of dog. Not sure if im getting one yet,just reasearching them.

Unanswerable question. You don't know what's going to happen when they cross. Could get the best of both or the worst of both. One of my Gordon's died at the age of 6 from a rupture lung. No injury, it just let go. Average life span of a Gordon is 10 years or so. My bloodhound lived to 9. Average live expectancy is 4-6 years (although the reputable breeders are working on longevity). Dogs are like cars-you can get a lemon at any time.

For someone to purposely breed two different breeds is totally irresponsible, IMO. Designer dog = mutt. There are thousands of those dying in shelters every day. I'm sorry, I really did *try* to stay off the soapbox...

Umm, I don't remember the OP saying anything about 'pit mixes', nor did they mention getting a dog from a ####*** breeder. They merely asked a question.

There are a bunch of breeds that foster bowed front legs, it's actually a breed characteristic. It can lead to chronic, long term problems depending on severity. It wouldn't be my choice to have that characteristic in my dog.

I just looked at some images of that cross - and the first thing that struck me is the front legs - you're breeding two dogs that have "odd" front legs; although in all fairness, I don't know if that's a kinetic problem or not?

I think you may be getting all the health problems from each breed. You may also be mixing the stubbornness of the Basset with the OCD of the bull dog-do the math on that one.
