Is it possible that the miter saw was too much of an inductive load?
What does your (federally required) "miter saw" nameplate say in terms of voltage & amperage?
What relationship does your house power requirements have to do with a 10" miter saw?
Perhaps your best bet would be to get an ampmeter clamp to check what your actual house current requirements are.
A digital clamp-on ampmeter with "peak hold" you can test what your actual maximum current requirements are.
e.g. Harbor Freight, item# 42397-1VGA, $19.99
