Thanks for the quick reply and all your help on this subject. The clock trick is great and sooo easy (if you can find a analog clock these days). I will have a more relaxing trip knowing nothing is going up in smoke due to the 50HZ thing and hopefully it is mislabeled.

The hz is actually controlled by the RPM of you generator, not the 50hz thing that you found inside. Since 50hz is all they have in China, then the part is probably labled correctly but will work just fine at 60 hz as it works at 50 hz.
If you want to fine tune your gen set, you can use the clock as mentioned in the above posts and fine tune you gen set my adjusting the rpm. I really do not advise this unless you are more than 2 mhz off. As you load and unload the genset, the rpm and hz will go up and down a little bit anyway!
