I believe that the reson some have less problem than others in starting their A/C is that their A/C has a hard start capacitator, also discussed in many other threads. Some A/Cs come with them. They can be added after the fact to most of the others.
I have one of the ELIM 3000s discussed early on here. I had the hard start capacitator added to my A/C. The genset loads down when the A/C compressor kicks in but starts it OK.
