Yep. China is a Communist country. While what you pointed out is still prevalent, times are a'changing in China and something resembling free enterprise is growing. Even Communist countries need outside $$$$$$ to keep their economy functional.
Personally, I would prefer NOT to buy Chinese products. But then I probably wouldn't have any tools, appliances, clothes or books to read.
