The surge protector looks OK. You do not really need it with the genny - and it won't offer protection unless you are grounded, but it won't hurt to have it onboard.
Agreed.
Just thinking out loud here. The typical surge immunity testing performed on most products (4kv to 6kv) simulates lightning strikes on the grid or to earth. In other words, it comes in on the power mains from the grid, so not having the camper connected to the grid (aka: generator powered) means you are not likely to encounter a typical surge event when running from a generator.
If you are in a generator powered camper and lightning strikes either, I doubt this surge arrestor will protect much. Same case with lightning striking a house directly, the typical surge arrestors will probably not be able to handle the energy from a direct strike, JMHO. Hmm, I'm not sure that grounding the generator would help in every situation either, since the ground would provide a low resistance path to ground in which the path might be through the camper.
There are some product standards that require surges in the order of 20kv and 10kA, the product is not expected to survive but is required to fail in a safe manner. Sometimes I love my job. :)
