For the last year or so I've been fascinated with the mechanics of a Stirling Engine. While this is a bit off thread, CNSayre is right on the money.
We're all after quiet (Key) power that's inexpensive. Hence this thread. Personally, I've purchased a Yamaha and it's not quiet enough for me. Each of the engineering designs yield different solutions to my own personal quest. Silence and power.
If you go to Nasa.gov and search for Stirling Engines, you'll find this is how nasa powers spacecraft on long duration flights.
Unfortunately, it's not in mass production and that's a crime. It really is what we're (collectively looking for).
While I could fabricate my own generator (which I think i will in the somewhat near future) it's not off the shelf just yet.
