91' Onan 8KW Gen trips 15 amp DC Control Breaker
Greetings! I have an Oldie but Goodie :) 8 KW Onan front slide out Generator Model 8dkdfj spec 40216c on my 91' American Eagle. There are two (2) 15 amp DC Breakers on the remote Start Control Box in the RV. One (1) for DC Battery Charge and the other is a DC Control Breaker. Recently began to blow the 15 amp DC Control Breaker upon start up after an Oil and Filter change. Also had a thermostat problem (sticky) and so I removed it for the time being until I get over this breaker issue. The wiring harness was repaired on the fly last year by protecting some brittle wires near the exhaust with duct tape very carefully and have had no problems since. So I'm a bit reluctant to unravel that at this point until everything else fails. Soon after I release the start button and she starts the breaker blows and she shuts down. Verified that the breaker itself is good, checked my coolant and oil levels everything ok there, so I am at a bit of a loss here on where to look next. The manual suggests that if the the problem was caused by a faulty Temp Shut Down switch or a faulty Oil Shut Down switch it would blow the small round Fault Breaker in the box. That is not happening only the 15 Amp DC Control Breaker is blowing??? Thank You in advance!!!
