Aqua Magic IV toilet part

Just took my thetford Magic IV apart for a rebuild. Now here's a laugh first. The only thing Magic I find is the presence of 1000 household fly pupi corpses inside the two halves of the assembly (inner airspace). Well not really Magic when I realized they were getting in through the roof vent then through the tank up into the unit.

Anyway a piece fell out that may have broke in in the process and I can't determine the location or Id of it on any diagrams (1/4 adapter shown).

  • Certain aspects of camping are sooooo pleasant. I think I have a sheet that came with the rebuild kit. I'll see if I can find it.
  • I couldn't find the sheet I thought I had on the rebuild kit but did find the following online.

  • It is the black band in the replacement part number 24630 reservoir assembly.

Google Thetford 24630 and look in the images.

I don't remember how to post images on here.
  • A part on our RV toilet broke and we learned that parts were not available, so we ordered a new toilet, then ew found a new part. That was a few years ago, the new toilet is still in it's shipping box.

I see the black band, mine is white of course but where does it go?

I haven't seen one for quite a while. If I remember correctly I think it goes around the reservoir assembly to hold it together. I also seem to remember it wasn't really a critical part. Not necessary. You could just put a zip tie around it if you were worried about it. I think there might be a groove that makes it obvious where to put the zip tie.
