Bedroom Air Conditioner . . . . Worth It??

Shoot El Paso is a world apart from Hewwwwwwston.

Always thought West Texans would benefit from evaporative cooling until the monsoon season arrived, late August nd September.

Man, parking in the shade is a must. Where my rig is looks like something out of a Tarzan movie.

Going to rio Chuta swimming hole tomorrow with the family. if the rain stops. One of the fishermen hooked a big swordfish a few days ago. Folks around here consider it to be something like a trash fish. I told them if they braise it over glowing Guisache wood coals, it goes down tolerable...

If you come to Texas May through September you would be challenged with one AC.

lacking a second AC might affect resale value also.

All depends where you live and do most of your camping. If we lived and camped in the south we would have a bedroom AC. I would purchase a "smaller unit".

I live in upstate NY and do most of the summer camping in the northeast. There are a few times when a second air would be nice. When we purchased the RV we had a fantastic fan installed in the bedroom. It is variable speed, thermostat controlled and reversible. Works for us.

I went a different route and installed a 5,000 BTU window unit. Flush outside. Bulk inside used as a night stand table base. Galvanized tray condensation drain and found a louvered plate to cover the hole. Used 2X2 ash for the structure.

At night, the door to the rest of the rig stays closed. Main AC off. The window unit keeps the bedroom cooler and much lower humidity than the TWO rooftop airs ever did. I set the AC on "Low Cool" which is the same speed for the compressor but slower air speed. I lost 13% relative humidity versus the 2 roof airs, 54% versus 41%.

I have a plug-in 15% voltage booster for the bedroom unit. When others are swearing and sweating because voltage is too low I am snoring.

Installing the bedroom AC in our 5W was money well spent. Wired it to a separate 20 amp circuit and as others have said, we use it during the day, not at night.

Makes a huge difference in keeping the trailer comfortable in hot weather, especially in cooling things down after initially hooking up.

that's why you run the bedroom one during the heat of the day, then rely on the front AC at night time. and during the day you might be able to shut down the front one and move the noise to the back. and the last thing I want to do when I am trying to cool a RV with AC would be to draw in hot air by the use of a fantastic fan.

Any manufacturer that builds a trailer over about 30' without a 2nd A/C needs to be drawn and quartered. I would not even consider a 37' trailer without the 2nd A/C unit and 50 amp service.

I'd add the second A/C unit.

Depends on where (part of the USA) you will be using it.

High heat / humid areas - yes.
(Southern states, FL, TX, etc.)

Moderate heat low humidity - no.

I have a 2nd unit in a 2006 trailer that I can honestly say I never need/use.
But.....in *summer* I stay close to the CA/OR/WA coast - *NO* AZ, NV, etc.
