CATV / OTA problem

I'm hoping someone on this site can help. I have a 2010 Keystone Laredo. Last season I suddenly noticed that I had no signal from either a cable connection OR the antenna. I've been trying to troubleshoot and I'm baffled. The antenna booster seems to be working correctly, and as a last resort I bought another one just to make sure. I've tested each cable for continuity and they all test fine. I have a Jensen flat panel and a wingard antenna, but as I said, I'm not getting anything via cable or antenna (yes I know you have to have the booster off for cable).

I'm stumped. Any ideas?
  • Thank you for all the replies. The problem, at least for OTA, is fixed. I had unhooked the cable at the antenna head to test it. It tested fine so I screwed it back on. It started working. Weird because it wasn't as if the cable was loose. I needed a wrench to remove it from the antenna. Oh well, problem solved.
  • Have you checked all connections of the coaxial cables?

Starting with connection of coaxial to antenna-head. Remove, clean, and reattach. Is cable secure to connector on that end?

Remove screws and pull plate inside slightly from wall. Are cables there tightened to back of plate and cable tight to cable connectors? Wires to power injector plate connected correctly (same for cables)?

If you have a switch-box disconnect coaxial (input to box from antenna plate) connect it directly to Television cable input. This will by-pass switch-box if problem there.

Make sure that cable end connection is tight and connected to TV input tight.

Indicator on amplifier power does not always mean amplifier is working when LED is lit. Check for 12+ volts on coaxial connected to antenna-head.

Since it worked before a failed amplifier, or a loose connection or cable end have to be the culprit. I never use cheap cables since the end connections can easily pull loose and loose connection. Normally wiggling the suspect connection will change signal to TV.
  • I have two suggestions, first if you have a control box for multiple inputs and outputs, check and make sure that is set correctly. These boxes may become obsolete in the future but are still in use, the second test is to bring a set from the house to the RV and plug it in and test.

Have you used the remote, press menu, and set the proper "INPUT" to "Antena" or "Cable" and then do a "SCAN" to bring in the available channels? It won't bring in any Channels until you scan. Give it a try and point the antenna in the direction of a Known transmitter in the area you are in. Digital channels will usually end in a .1, or .2 or .3, for example if you normally get channel 3, it will now come in as channel 3.1 or 3.2. Remember SCAN SCAN SCAN

As an addition, you can bring up Antenna web and enter the Zip code where you are at and it will show the direction and distance to the available transmitter. You might need a compass to point your antenna

Ya, I guess I forgot to mention that I've selected antenna and scanned for stations, no luck. And I've done this from the same spot (my driveway) where I've received good signals in the past.

There's an iOS app called TV Towers which will show you the TV towers in the area and help you align your antenna. I couldn't find stations until I got the app. Hope you find the solution.
