- MrWizardModeratori have CFL in my 'residential' wall fixtures and overhead dining rm light her in the MH
- gclossExplorerLED is the only way to go in lighting. LEDs have surpassed all CFL & linear fluorescent, in terms of quality of light, energy efficiency, control, lifespan and environment. The only light source that still beats LED is the metal halide HID found only in commercial applications, but not for long.
In the next 5 years, the LED lighting market will be worth $57 billion. Everything will be LED. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIThere is another interesting article which you may find in selected libraries in about a month.. Alas, the on-line version is a "Members only" site..
The ARRL, in the October 2013 edition of QST, has an article on LED and CFL lights... And FCC regulations regarding Radio Frequency Interference.
I found it interesting reading (RFI, is also known as TVI (Television Interference) in case you wonder.
Turns out CFL's and electronic balast FL's like Thinline, are covered not under Part 15 of the FCC regas, but part 18, this allows much more interference. - BFL13Explorer IIHey Mex, what do you know about "Northern Pesos" anyway?
On CFLs, I can't compare with the newer sort of LEDs, but I have a CFL stuck into one of the 120v lamps we have in our rig and use it as a reading light. It draws much less in amps including the inverter to power it, than the twin 12v bulb lamp beside it, for at least as good a light.
I am happy with my CFL light. I have some older style LEDs that I don't like for reading, but I know there are better ones out now. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerBetcha a Loonie they're playing night games under them within five or six years!
Got'Cha Back! - Gadget_Guy1ExplorerWhat does the Canadian Football League have to do with LED lights???
