Chassis battery not charging

We’re full timers currently connected to shore power. Coach batteries stay charged as normal. Chassis battery does not charge. With engine running, alternator charges normal. While engine is running, put battery tester on battery. Battery and charging system checks out normal. It appears coach converter/charger keeps coach batteries charged as normal, but isn’t keeping chassis battery charged. I’m a bit electrical challenged. Not sure how to trouble shoot.

Glad you got it diagnosed. Electrical problems can sometimes be very hard to track down.

Follow up on chassis battery issue. Appreciate all the suggestions. I did take the advice to reread electrical systems section of owners manual. It states that some, like mine, Converter/ Chargers have a built in feature (Comparitor) that allows simultaneous charging of the House and chassis batteries. After talking with a tech that was at the National plant in Perris, it was determined the chassis battery was at fault. Replaced the battery and I’m back to normal. After several days sitting at campground chassis battery is holding charge as it always has for the past 16 years of full time in this MoHo.

ocate your battery control center. It may have a bi-direction charge relay setup. Gas rig in many coaches is located under the hood driver's side.If it does the relay could be bad or a fuse has blown.
Try to locate battery control center make and model and post.

Consider a 30 watt or so solar system to maintain your chassis battery/batteries.
Winnebago 2101DS TT & 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71, WindyNation 300 watt solar-Lossigy 200 AH Lithium battery. Prefer boondocking, USFS, COE, BLM, NPS, TVA, state camps. Bicyclist. 14 yr. Army -11B40 then 11A - (MOS 1542 & 1560) IOBC & IOAC grad

Read this thread. This is a current (pardon the pun) thread on solving exactly this problem.

Nothing to trouble shoot. It is designed that way. To keep the engine battery on a Float charge, you need a separate charger for that, or parallel it with the house batts. Several ways to get it done, but normal problem.

we've owned three motorhomes. the chassis batteries in each of them was not charged by plugging into shore power or running the genny. are you sure your MH is designed to charge the chassis battery that way?

we use this to keep the chassis battery charged when plugged into shore or running the genny.

Make and model of coach?
Many converters do not charge chassis battery.
