Crimper With Awg Dies 8 - 1/0 NOT METRIC

For as often as I need a lug crimped I visit a welding shop or battery store. Went into a battery store had had maybe 6 crimps done and the guy wanted $5, I gave him $10, that was 20 years ago. Now go in with one and they want a minimum fee of $20!

So now am the proud owner of a Harbor freight hydraulic crimper!

AS often as I need to crimp I visit a welding shop for the big stuff.

Little stuff (10ga stranded and smaller) I have my own crimpers. and darn good ones too.

I've been using the same hammer crimper for more than 10 years for the RV and a wide variety of farm equipment. Very small and easy to store and use. Never a problem with any lug/wire connection that whole time. The big trick is to make sure you're using the correct size lug for the cable size. We've never had any connection with corrosion, but I slip a 2" of piece shrink wrap on the wire before making the connection then slide it up over the lug shank and heat.

I have this one, hammer type, for all sizes from 4/0 to 8. I've used it on some 4 gauge as well as some metric, and it works well. Good price, too, at $19.95.
