Dometic 2852 Refridgerator - Manual Override.

I have a Dometic refrigerator that has never gotten as cold as I would like. That sliding probe adjustment inside the refrigerator to control temperature is a joke.

The unit is operating normally. I just want it colder. In my house I like my fridge temperature at about 36 degrees. My RV is running at about 45 would be my guess. Milk is awful at 45 degrees. Is there any manual override or adjustment I could make to keep it running when the thermostat would normally shut it off. Any way to get it colder?

I was looking at manual and it says
In AUTO mode operation, the temperature is controlled by
    a single temperature setting.
    B. MANUAL MODE
When operating in the MANUAL mode, the AUTO mode
indicator lamp (A) will be off, and the refrigerator will run
continuously on the energy source selected by the control
    system.

I do not have a manual option. only auto, and gas. when on gas I think it to would be controlled by the auto temp of about 40.
so if I want colder I can try the dino thermistor.
also when on gas it does not always re ignite and goes to check. is it difficult to change the igniter unit out.

What model number and year model RV? There is NO manual mode I am aware of on a Dometic refer in the past 20 years. The AUTO just means it will operate on 120 volts if 120 is available and will AUTO go to LP when 120 is NOT available. The LP mode means (or releasing the Auto button and it is OFF) just means the refer will run on LP all the time even if 120 ac is available. ALL modes are Thermister (tstat) controlled. Doug

  • if it is determined to be operating correctly and you want eal temp control, buy the dinasour electronics thermistor adjusting module and plug it in per the instructions. it will give you a pretty wide adjustment range for temperature.

Taking the Thermister and just pulling it OFF the fins will allow the refer to run all the time. YOUR problem is, you DO HAVE a problem if the refer will not get colder than 45 degrees. You think the slider is a joke when in reality, your refer has a problem that needs professionally checked out, to find out why it is operating 10 degrees hotter than normal. Doug

    YES......
But OP is just guessing at the temp....so really don't know if fridge is not properly cooling.

OP..you need to 'measure' actual temps.
Glass of water with thermometer in it........leave overnight and then check temp.

Have you checked backside of fridge for any obstructions to air flow/draft?
Have you checked the installation of fridge for proper set-backs/clearances/no dead-air spaces as recommended by Dometic (RV mfgs. don't always install fridges correctly)?
    Any obstructions at roof vent?

HERE is installation/service manual that will detail how it should have been installed
  • I have a Dometic #2652.

I installed one of these & it does help considerably. Purchased on Ebay for about $20. Ran the the wire for power down & through the drain & to the 12 volt on the back of the frig. The unit is self grounding. The + lead comes with an in-line fuse built in. I still have the seller info, if you want it. Average frig temp should be 36-38 degrees.
