Our refrigerator started having cooling problems with temp going into the high 40's.....we are currently on our second new thermistor.....freezer seems to be working but refrig not cooling....now at 50 this AM......service tech thinks it has to do with the cooling unit.......unit is a 2013 and my question is when a cooling unit goes bad does the freezer still work? When the 2nd thermistor was installed the temp was 60....now down to 50, wouldn't that indicate that something is working correctly?? We are at our wits end!!

put a bungee cord across the door let sit fie hours see if temp takes a huge drop? if it does your door gasket is bad, mine froze the milk.

Freezer working and Food section NOT.......classic symptom of a blocked/clogged cooling unit.

Unplug thermistor leads at board..........run fridge overnight.
Food section should get down in temps if no blockage due to lack of temp sensing/running continuously.

Another 'test' would be to wire electric element directly to 120V power BUT you would need to monitor stack temp....could cause fire if cooling unit was blocked.
Is it time for your medication or mine?
