Equalize Batteries

How many points difference between cells?* Six cell batteries or three cell batteries?

Trailers with the battery disconnect often leave the LP alarm and radio connected, by-passing the switch. In that case you have to remove wires from the battery.

There is a factory battery disconnect switch that is on this cougar 5th wheel, so I can easily engage that switch to protect the equipment inside, I should think that would work. As "manual operation was also mentioned the voltage could be set specifically for battery type and then initiated. A good point about using shorepower to do this, because of the consistent voltage and time required. Thank you,

Yes you can have all run automatic or manually. The charging systems will not be bothered with another component equalizing.

As said above due caution to be used for other components.

Equalize to 16.0 volts - maybe 10 - 22 hours for badly sulfated GC 220s

Fiddlefart to 15.0 volts constant maybe 25 - 40 hours continuous. Do you have

A) a machine that can hold 15 volts?

B) for 40 hours?

The playtime routines on schmart chargers are near worthless unless the routine is resettable and a person is around to push the button 22 times in a row. These con artists are schmart enough to have diddled people into springing big bucks for Art Decco design plastic. Well, it's time for me to spend ten dollars to go sit in a radium mine to treat my arthritis...

Which part of 16.2v equalizing did you not read? Go argue with Norcold fridge about their 15.4v upper limit spec. ISTR also some LED lights are voltage sensitive?

Best to check. 15.5 will fry a thousand dollar Respironics BiPAP circuit board*. The devices do not disconnect automatically disconnect when powered by battery. Might be safe for RV appliance electronics but not worth the gamble for all 12 volt devices.

I'm so paranoid about this my Respironics is on a 12 hour Intermatic wimd up timer. Yes it means twisting a dial then oressing a button.7

Trying to automate electrochemical process is as fruitless a pursuit as trying to shop for clothing for the DW because what takes her seven hours can take you two.
Shysterism is ripe when it comes to anything technical which can be magically somehow become one touch automated.

Battery equalization is a specific directed label for impessing five percent of total amp hour capacity in constant amperage across a cell and leaving constant amperage on that cell until one of two things happen: electrolyte density reverts to what it was when the battery was new OR 16.0 volts at 20c is reached. Whatever happens first.

When I coined the term Top Charge I let it be known clear and loud what that exercise meant and would and would not do.

Mine is capped at 15.0 just in case the batteries get lazy.
I would not really call it equalization but more of a periodic boost charge.
