Front air cond. won't turn on.

I have pretty much eliminated the thermostat switch and the intellitec control monitor as the problem. 1998 Fleetwood Pace Arrow Vision. Any suggestions?
THANKS!
  • Are you on a 30 amp or 50 amp service

On 30 amp you can only have enough power for One A/C unit
You may have switches, to select which unit you can use

Check the closets for the switches
  • The outside unit may have a stuck cooler fan shaft. That can be overcome by pushing the fan blades that will rotate the shaft so it frees up. Do that before turning on unit. I use a wooden dowel about the size of your little finger in diameter and about three feet long, as it fits through the slotted openings in the sides so you don't have to take shroud off. The compressor won't start until fan outside is rotating, as it cools condenser on one end and blows air over the cooling coil and into the RV on the other end. The shaft gets rusted in place due to age and lack of use.
  • 1. Check your circuit breakers are on.
    2. Check to see if you have 120V. at the controls to the AC on the roof.
    3. There are two capacitors on the unit, one for starting and one for running. You may have a bad starting capacitor. Pull the top cover off of the AC and then open the control box on the side of the unit. Capacitors are metal oval long gated devices with wires connected to them. If there is a bulge on one of them, that maybe your culprit. Make sure ALL power is disconnected and you bleed off the existing capacitance on the capacitor by grounding the wires on the capacitor to ground. Wear gloves!
    4. If it is not the thermostat, control wires (low voltage), capacitors or circuit breakers, it could be the unit is shot.

    Good luck ;)
  • The intelitic board has 2 relays , one for each AC . You can jumper the relay to se if the AC turns on . I'm not at my mh at this time to get to my diagrams. new board was 375. good luck

There is no start components or control between the compressor and the fan. Each is controlled and runs independently of each other. Also, the condenser fan draws outside air into the shroud and across the condenser coil and then exhausts the hot air out the rear of the enclosure. No outside air is ever directed into the trailer. The air inside is constantly being recirculated through the evaporator coil.
I'm amazed that some of this stuff gets posted, but then it is the Internet.
