Hadley Air Horn

I need to remove and clean my Hadley air horn solenoid or replace it. Everything I have read says you have to drain the air tank first. Perhaps a dumb question, but how to you first drain the air tank. HR Gasser with the tank barely accessible in the upper drivers side front.

Thanks

  • It is a gasser, the only air tank is the one to the airhorns in the upper front of the unit. Horns do not work at all, which is why I need to remove and clean or replace the solenoid.
  • The OP has a HR vacationer and I think that was only gas. On air brakes, no air tank, only the one that comes with the Hadley air horn. Unplug the pump or remove the fuse and the air won't last long.
  • It is important that you learn where your air tank is. It should be drained periodically to check for water anyway so knowing where it is will allow you to do this once or twice a year (maybe more if it's humid).
There should be a valve at the bottom center or the end bottom to turn or a lanyard to pull that will allow the air/water out.

I'm sure they are talking of draining all the air from the tank which could be done by blowing the horns until they quit.

The best way to do that is stay at a Campground, leave early in the morning and drain the tank on your way out of the CG. :B
