Holiday Rambler storage compartment door removal

I need to remove a storage compartment door due to something causing a bulge in the "hinge" area when it's closed. I think its a "curl under the side trim" type of attachment. Has anybody removed theirs that can suggest a hint? I do not see a true hinge anywhere along the top edge of the door. The side trim is caulked to the body above it and when the door closes it appears there is something between the door and trim as the trim moves out and leaves a gap that allows water and dirt in it. None of the other doors has that issue. On my old Pace Arrow, there was a cap on the end of the side moulding that, when removed, allowed the doors to be slid toward the end and out of the channel. The trim on this one is riveted but I don't want to drill out the rivet unless absolutely necessary to accomplish my goal. My coach is a twin to the Monaco LaPalma bodywise.
  • I think I finally figured how to upload the pictures to go with my previous reply.[img][/img]
  • I finally had a decent weather day to explore my door issue. What I found was that 12 of the screws that held the side trim / upper half of the hinge to the plywood body side inner panel were rusted and the heads sheared off. They had fallen down into the hinge and one had lodged to the point of pushing out the trim / hinge when the door was lowered and latched. I redrilled the holes through the fiberglass side all the way through to the metal reinforcement and installed new screws. Problem solved! I can't seem to get pictures to load but if I figure it out I will do so later.
  • Why don't you post a picture of the door and where the problem is. Someone may be better ale to help you if they can see the problem.
