Hello. I am new here and have my first post. I got a 2005 Laredo 5th wheel. The sticker by the power cord says 30 ampres. My plug has two slanted blades and a rounded extension which I figure is the ground.Today I got a free Honda EU3000is from a guy cleaning out a closed up RadioShack. He said that it would run my RV as long as I did not use the air conditioner and microwave at the same time.Don't know if that is right but thought its free, might as well take it.I guess the EU3000 means it is from Europe and makes 3000 watts? Will this run my rig in the USA without problems?I was going to try and add a picture from my Android tablet but haven't figured it out yet.

No, it's not from the EU, that's just a model designation. :)You got yourself a great gen there. It will run your air and maybe even you micro at the same time (if you have to).

It will work very well for your RV. As he said, you dont want to run 2 heavy draw items at the same time. It probably has a twist lock plug design and you will need an adapter to connect it to your 30 amp RV cord. I mounted my 3000 in the truck bed with a fan powered ventilated metal locking cover. It also has a remote start kit. When I run it a short time I dont worry about opening my cover lid. When I'm running it for longer times or when it's real warm out I will open the cover. Nice of him to give you the sweetest, quietest $2,000 generator on the market.3000

I don't think it has anything to do with Europe but I have been wrong before! He is right about what you can run and it is a great genny. Very quiet and dependable. I have been using mine sense 2005 with no problems. Love it.

Congrats, Ray, those generators cost almost $2,000.00 new and are considered among the best anywhere.The plug for your rig sounds like a 30 amp RV plug. Be sure that you don't plug into any outlets that ALMOST fit, because there is a 240 volt 30 amp outlet that will fit if you force it, and it will fry everything in your trailer. This is not a concern at campgrounds, but if you hire an electrician to put in a plug at your house, they may not know the difference.Your Honda 3000 puts out 2600 watts on a steady basis and 3000 watts during momentary "surges". Your cord and the main breaker in your trailer can handle up to 3600 watts on a steady basis. As said, the A/C is the biggest load (and a microwave if you have one). The A/C will likely need ALL your 3600 watts when it starts up on a hot day, but only about half that when it runs. This means that your Honda will probably be overloaded because of the first moment's surge of power required. This is a frustration we all deal with.If you're made of money you can buy a second Honda and connect them together and you'll never run out of power. Have fun!!

The locking plug-in spot says 23.3A above the plug and stamped in the plastic of the plug itself is a 30A and the sticker on the rig says 30 amps.Does this Honda make 30A or 23.3A? No Radio Shack stores sell Honda generators. The store where the OP got one probably had it for stand-by power so they could stay open during a power outage.

I see...parallel kit vs. cables. I checked out the link below and i got cables only. I do not have the add on hardware for 50amp like in this picture.

Yes/No: the Parallel Cables by themselves ONLY allow for 30amps- not much of an improvement.

You need the ParallelKIT which comes with a new 50amp receptacle that hangs on the generator.

If you connect two EU3000 in parallel you should have a full 30 amps continuous available at that outlet same as utility power. Single generator 23.3 amps only.

The Honda "3000" will supply a total of 2800 Volt-Amps (VA). The appliance plugged into it may have a power-factor to apply to the appliance's rated watts. If so, it will want more VA than its rated watts. You have to consider this when deciding if that 2800VA is enough supply.

You can get the 2800 from the 23.3a receptacle (at 120 volts).
If you are also running something from the 20a receptacle outlets that will reduce what you can get from the 23.3a outlet. They all share from the total.

If you go over the 2800 the circuit breaker will pop but the gen will keep running so you only notice it popped when your appliance quits or you notice the Honda's red light go on. To get power started again, you have to turn off the Honda and restart its engine.

I don't own a 3kw, so I can't say. Usually, you plug the RV into the outlet provided on the parallel cables.

I don't know how accurate it was but there was a website that showed every RadioShack in the US when they announced they were shuttering a bunch and showed which ones were closing and which staying open.

Do all RadioShacks sell Honda's though?
