If you own an EU2000i and did not get a letter from Honda about the recall, there are a number of reasons:

1. Your unit was not in the effected range. Nearly all units that are part of this recall campaign were manufactured in the last 18 months. Honda only sent out letters to customers with units in the effected range.

2. If your unit was in the range, it's possible your name and address were never registered with Honda at the time of sale. If you bought from an independent dealer, they often do this for you. If you bought a a big-box store, such as Camping World, it may not have been done, but there is a postage-paid card in the box you can always complete and drop in the mail. You can also just call Honda direct with the serial number and data of purchase and register over the phone. Bottom line, Honda can only contact customers who registered their generators.

3. Here's a link with full details and FYI about the recall and possible work needed. Have the serial number off the back of your generator's case handy to see if your unit is in the effected range:
Honda EU2000i Recall Bulletin Complete (FYI, not DIY)

4. You can contact Honda Customer Relations (770.497.6400)for more information, or just ask me. I work for Honda and will help out any way I can.

Every body seems to be happy that they have had a possible hazard elimanated.
Lets see,we the consumers buy a product from a company with the promise that if it is proven to be faulty than they will remedy the problem. Unfortunately it is at the consumers expense. It costs Honda as much as five minutes of a techs time and the consumer maybe as much as two hours of their time plus the cost of delivery and pick up.
Now you tell me, who created this problem to begin with and who's taking it in the shorts. This is the third recall that I have had to answer to this year alone. And one of them was the Dometic reefer recall on a houseboat. Well it didn't get taken care of but now I find that if I sell the reefer or the houseboat with the reefer in it I am subject to criminal prosecution. Thats our government really looking out for the American consumer. And all three of the recalls were from foreign companies. And Honda never even bothered to send me a notice.

I just bought a pair last Friday, checked serial numbers and they are included. Went to the web site and it said if there was a green dot on the box, it was already done. Both boxes had green dots, guess I'm good to go.

It would be great if the title was changed to "Honda EU2000i Generator Recall". Other Honda models such as the EU1000i and EU3000i are not affected.

It would be great if someone could post a photo of the clamps (on the Honda) referred to in the recall.

Mine dates back to about 2005 or 2006. In addition to that, I have changed my fuel lines so I could add a fuel filter.

dropped my 2 off today for the fix

You had to actually drop them off and pick them up?

I took mine in and they did it while the manager and I was looking up tires for my ATV. It seriously is a two minute job. The tech grabbed it when I walked in the back door and brought it to me when they were done while I was at the parts counter still. Very quick.

it was a last minute decision to take them...I got there as they were leaving... it is right around the corner from me , either way i would have had to go back...this way they will be done ..HE gave me the option of coming back when they are there and waiting.
