I am amazed at how well these batteries have recovered.
I have 3 sets of 2 GCBs, 6 in total. I only worked with 2 sets (4 batteries) the last couple days. They would barely hold charge at all when I removed them from the trailer. The gravities were all poor. They would not support a load for any time and they outright failed the 100A battery tester test.
Present results.
Set #1 All cells in the lower portion of the "Good" gravity range. Resting battery voltage is 12.7V. 250 CCA on the 100A battery tester test.
Set #2 All cells in the middle of the "Fair" gravity range. Resting cell voltage is 12.4V. 200 CCA on the 100A battery tester tester. I load tested this set for 1 hour at 17 amps. Resting voltage was 12.3V at the end.
The main difference between the 2 sets is that I did a full load cycle on the first set between chargings and only a partial cycle on the second set. I think with more time I could get the 2nd set into even better shape.
I'm leaving on a 2 week camping trip tonight. I'll report how these sets perform when I get back.
I am thrilled to finally understand some truths about batteries. I am really glad that I didn't just add Epson Salt or more acid to my batteries.
