Best bang fo rthe buck when you amortize it over 10 years imho.
Batteries are very cheap for what they give you. I paid $600 for my set 8 years ago. We rarely camp in a powered site and we've been using our trailer 4 weeks every summer, plus odd weekends. I haven't run a generator in 8 years and until our last trip, we've had enough power for everything we've needed to do - mainly lights, stereo, though we used to run the microwave on the inverter once in a while.
I love the combination of GCBs and solar. The batteries are always fully charged when it is in storage. No need to remove them for winter. You pick up the trailer, the batteries are fully charged, ready to use. No having to plug the trailer in somewhere to get it ready to use.
We are active campers. We rarely stay around our site during the day. As long as the sun shines and our panels aren't shaded, the batteries automagically get brought back up to full voltage. No muss, no fuss. No having to set up a generator, start it, fuel it or maintain it. No noise. No smell.
I cannot imagine owning a trailer without GCBs, solar and an inverter.
