Inexpensive LED awning lighting solution

Just thought I would share a small project I just completed. I was looking for a WARM led light solution for under the awning. I dry camp frequently so I needed it to be 12V and low power. I ended up purchasing this LED light tape:

LED string light

And adhering it to the underside of the metal rail which holds the awning to the RV. I was able to easily run a wire over the roof to the fridge stack and tap into the power for the fridge. I then used this:
Remote dimmer

inline dimmer with remote to control the lighting. Works like a charm.

That looks like the same LED strips many of us purchased and installed. If you cut yours to length, you may want to seal the end off with silicone. My strip had moisture in it after a few outings then certain colors stopped working. The lights were cool while they lasted but we only got one season out of them.

You probably did not get the waterproof version... They seal themselves at the cut...I have 2 rolls waiting for nice weather it be in stalled....

Here is the set I bought (searched my Amazon purchase history. Adversised as waterproof but they are not. linky

Says right on there--waterproof.. And they are a PITA to remove just to return , but it may be worth a phone call to the vendor..?

here is where mine came from - - Superbright LEDs
