Installing 120v Fridge Element--Jury Rig- UPDATE
Updated with temps page 2 third post. (Success!)
---------------
Here is the photo from the old thread on this. Tinypic is closing, so fingers crossed--
(More to come on edit if the photo shows--ok it did. Tinypic.com has shut down, but it seems the old urls for photos still works--for today anyway--they say to go to photobucket from now on.)
So the question is, what is that tube sticking out from the ?flue ? (not sure of my terminology) just to the left of the old 120v element, and can I break it off without hurting anything? You can see half of that little tube's open end in the photo
I have to strap the new element on close to the flue outside the rusted sleeve holding the bottom of the old element (top now broken off). The 12v element is also stuck in so can't swap out for the new 120v.
The two sleeves are rusted in back to the first pipe, which is then also stuck to the fatter pipe behind it. Can't slide the clamp between the thinner and fatter pipes. I have to clamp around the whole thing behind the fat pipe to secure the new 120v element alongside the thinner pipe in front the sleeves are on.
But that little tube is in the way. Alternative is to strap the new 120v element to the groove outside between the two sleeves. I don't know if that will get enough heat to where it needs to go, but I can try it and find out if I can't get rid of that little tube.
Thanks.
