Leaking windows no longer leak

My trailer is 1yr old and shortly after I bought it found that with really HEAVY rain downpour both my back two windows would leak water. I was getting ready to pull the windows and re-seal before winter but now I can't get them to leak any longer. I have hit both of them pretty hard with a steady stream of water from a hose and nothing. Wondering if the movement of the trailer over the last year possibly helped them seal up? Anyone ever encounter something similar. At this point I'm hesitant to pull and reseal but will definately keep an eye on them.
  • I couldn't agree more myredracer with what you said (Water leakage is the kiss of death on an RV and should not be taken lightly.) Thats why I would get my RV Sealtech Leak Tested at least once a year.... new leaks can open up at anytime at 70 MPH....
  • While you may not be getting water inside where you can see it, you may have water going in somewhere you can't see it. Remove the windows and reseal is your best option, or do major repairs later. Chuck
  • No, I know exactly where water was getting in. The windows were originally leaking along the sides of the window frame/seal. I could hit it with a hose and water would leak along the window frame on the inside of the trailer. Doing the same I no longer get water on the inside of the trailer.
  • I would do a pressurized air leakage detection test like Sealtech.

The leak could be coming from a number of sources including up on the roof. Who knows, maybe the water is also going elsewhere too or maybe there are other similar leaks.

Water leakage is the kiss of death on an RV and should not be taken lightly.
  • Your not flowing the water in the right place, as others have said water can travel great distances from were the actual leak is. Most probably on your roof somewhere.

  • Look higher
You saw where the water was coming out before, not where it was coming in.
Water can travel a long ways before exiting.

    Check Weep Holes.

They couldn't have plugged with dirt, grime, small bugs etc. that moved out of the opening so the windows could drain. Check all the weep holes on all of your windows.

I check them all the time. They get clogged up all the time. More so depending where you are parked and what type of dang small bugs are prevalent at the time.

Also I had my one window on a cabover leak in 'thru' the weep holes during a real heavy storm. The weep holes could not keep up with it.

The reason was my MH was tipped that way causing copious amounts of water to hit that window in additional to the heavy rain. Leveled out the MH during the rain and it drained properly.

And if the leak cannot be seen then you risk lots of damage.
Pull, clean, reseal and get on to other things.
  • Leaks dont mysteriously stop. Pull them, clean everything really well, apply a bead of butyl putty tape, reinstall the windows.
