Norcold Refer Propane Gas Flame Q

Question

I checked my Norcold's propane gas fired flame, and found it to be the beautiful blue flame color, however, it has an red/orange dot in the center of it.

Is this a problem that I need to address? My refer hardly ever cycles OFF from the firing of the flame, and, it has a "pop" "pop" sound every 30 seconds or so.

What could be the situation here?

It's likely a flake of rust that's fallen down the pipe and come to rest there. Try to carefully remove it so it doesn't fall into the burner itself, because if that happens and it lands in the right place, can pre-detonate the LP within the burner causing it to backfire. Guess how I know.. ?

Now that it's daylight I'm reading the rest of the post. Sounds like you are already in backfire mode. Take the burner out and try to clean it as best you can. My gremlin was right inside the burner next to a slot and was a PITA to find

You need to disassemble burner and clean.......replace if burner slots are distorted/misshaped/falling in.Flame should be strong steady and blue....no orange

What model and year of your Norcold.  It sounds to me by the popping noise that the burner slots are rusted out and the burner needs to be replaced if it still pops once you cleaned the burner assembly.

I'm going to clean 'er up and see what the deal is, as well as vacuum out the chimney structure of accumulated soot flakes too! Thanks for the numerous replies here!
