Replaced Kitchen and Bathroom Faucets!

Well Yesterday I spent most of the Day replacing the Faucets on both Sinks!
After nearly 20 Years of use both were worn out and kinda Ugly!

New ones look and function much better!

Issues encountered:

The New Moen Kitchen Faucet comes with supply lines permanently attached so I had to chop off the Pex and install some Supply Shut Offs! Easy enough ,but the space under the Sink was awkward for this Old Boy!
I could have used Sharkbite connectors ,but they didn't have them at my hardware store so borrowed their Crimper and went with the Pex push on and rings!

The New Danze Bathroom Faucet hooked right up. They were on clearance at Canadian Tire. Came in Gold to match the existing decore!

I couldn't use the Push/Pull drain and down pipe cecause the Still perfectly good sink didn't have an overflow ,so I installed a new Push on Push off Drain plug assembly, designed I think for laundry tubs. It works fine and was exactly the same length as the El Cheapo Plastic thing that came standard in the Dutch Star!

I'm pretty sure that I could have done the install in under an hour except Im getting Old and not as flexible! Also the Engineers who built the Under Sink space obviously never intended the original Faucets and Sinks to ever be replaced by simple Humans!
  • Great report!

I am considering the replacing of my kitchen faucet with a Moen model. I have a single deep tub sink and the faucet I am considering is a combination rigid and flexible sprayer, and stands tall. The whole idea was to allow rinsing of bigger pots like those used for pasta and lobster.
  • I absolutely hated the squeaky plastic faucets and replaced them with single lever models (Delta maybe?) from a big box store. So much better. My only real issue is the thin stainless steel kitchen sink flexes quite a bit when I lift on the lever to turn the water on. May end up having to deal with that one of these days.

I replaced Leaky Washered Plastic Phoenix with Squeaky Washerless Plastic Phoenix. Was just happy to get direct replacements. So many residentials connect differently or have different hole patterns. One thing I wanted to do was replace the "flat" kitchen sink faucet with a high arch one. I had a resi faucet home and found it no higher than what I had. Then looked on Amazon and they had an arched squeaky plastic Phoenix and I went with it. My joy with how well that project went eclipses my angst with the squeak.

I thought I was going to have to help my cousin change out the faucet on the stainless sink in his fiver. I think it would have gone OK, but I found there was a razor sharp folded edge on the bottom of the sink. Right at the faucet mounts, probably to stiffen it. Would have worn gloves or tried to put tape on that knife edge.
