Schwintek slide

We had a wire come loose from our slide motor and need to replace motor. However slide is in and need to open slide to get to motor retaining nut. Manual said to unplug both motors from controller and push slide out. We did this but could not budge slide. Since my wife and I may not have enough strength to move slide, I need to know if the manual instructions are correct and the slide can be pushed out. If anyone who has had success with this procedure, please advise me and I will get younger and stronger men to push the slide out. However, we need to know if this method works. Thanks
  • We had a bad wire on our schwintek system, but in our case it was stuck out. It took 3 grown men with their backs to the slide (pushing with our legs) to get it in. Then I took it to the dealer and let them deal with it under warranty. I wish you luck.
  • Yes, it was the black wire. Can not get to motor retaining nut unless the slide is out 6 inches. I will now round up strong guys after disconnecting motors at the controller. I was curious if anyone has actually done this so that I could be confident that it would work. Since one motor is working we will try just disconnecting one motor and pushing. If anyone has tried this and it worked, please instill confidence in me. Thanks
  • IF the wire that is bad is NOT the Red and black(motor wires), you can disconnect THAT motor from the controller supply 12 volt and ground to the Red and Black and operate the motor. IF the Red and Black are the bad wires, you disconnect each motor plug from the control and then use BRUTE strength to push the room out (3 or 4 people). IF you can put the controller in ovveride, then use the controller to operate the GOOD motor and with the bad motor harness disconnected from the controller then just manually push that end. Doug
  • Pretty sure you have to access the motors from the outside under the seal to remove retaining screw and then disengage the gear. Then you can push it out. There is a video that shows it Video Here
  • Yes, provided you unpluged just the motors at the controller. Unplugging the controller won't work. Go to LCI1.com lots of good info.
