Splendide 2100xc

Ok house closed on Friday so on to full timing. Tried to user Splendide and will not spin or drain. See that I should look at cleaning the pump per-chamber as a possible problem. Says an amount of water will come out, would that be a small amount or what is in washing machine, slight difference. Thanks for advice.

Yep, been there, done that. If neglected for a long time it can get nasty. In the early years we discovered that when the clothes took too long to dry it was time to clean the unit. But pulling the unit, taking the top off, removing that rubber boot and cleaning everything was a pain. So to eliminate that problem we started cleaning ours once a month using the Splendide recommended method (and adding vinegar) and never again had to pull the machine out to clean that rubber boot.

Use the method edatlanta posted. You can also use a water hose to back wash that rubber boot to force the lint ball back into the drum, then do the cycle again. I used to add a cup of vinegar to the drum before starting the cycle. The procedure will add a lot of water to the drum, then slosh it around. The idea is to break up that lint ball in the rubber boot. Once I figured out what was supposed to happen I was able to keep mine lint free without having to pull the unit out of the closet to clean that rubber boot.

Also, the hoses on the backside are no different that the ones in your home. They should be replaced at least every 5 years.

  • I just purchased an 07 Discovery. Washing machine hose PACKED with lint. Also found rubber vent boot between drum and backside plugged with lint. Check yearly if you wash/dry lots of clothes.
Believe fabric softener is what makes lint stick to hose.
  • The following is a lint cleaning procedure from Westland Sales. My 2100XC quit drying after almost 3 years of use and it seems the hot air discharge was plugged up. This procedure cleaned it right up. I perform this routine a couple of times a year now and no more problems.

    1. Start the unit without clothes and with the dry time off on cycle # 11. When the water stops entering the unit push and hold the start button until all the lights come on then release the button. *NOTE: If the water is not at least half way up the glass repeat this step.

    2. Move the cycle knob to cycle # 2 push the extra rinse button then press the start button once (do not hold) then let it run through that complete cycle.

Do this 3 times then try the dryer.
  • Glad you got it fixed. Just something to keep you busy now that you are retired.

  • Yes it was full of water, removed cap and slowly drained washer out. Checked inside of drain, did not see anything. Put back together and working fine. Told wife to expect break downs but could of done without washmachine issue. Oh we'll all is good and day two of retirement feels great.
  • It's the impeller on the water pump motor. Mine had a small piece of romex wire I left in a pocket get stuck in it causing the exact same symptoms. Took pump out and removed romex. All fixed.
  • are you saying that it is full of water? Cleaning out the front chamber is a routine maintenance item that I do about twice a year. At that time, only about 2 cups of water comes out. If it is full of water, I expect you will find that ALL of it will come out the front. Are the lights flashing on the controls or is it just stopped dead in it's tracks with all the lights off?
