Thetford Aria Deluxe

The toilet's mounting flange has been bent and I'm getting a leak where the toilet meets the floor. Thetford tells me the mounting flange and bushing are not replaceable parts (which I found to be incredible). Am I limited to using Thetford mounting flange; are the flanges that exact?

That Aria mounts unlike most toilets- it doesn't actually attach to the floor flange. But, it does have specific flange requirements- the top of the flange must be 7/16" above the floor. Thetford sells a spacer kit if it is too low-

That's from this spacer instruction sheet

I believe it was one of the rv.net moderators that created the link below to help with posting pictures. It works great.

At your home screen, right click, select new, then shortcut. Copy the link below as the location, select next and give it a name like RVnetPhoto, then select finish. This short cut will take you to the picture hosting site quickly any time you need to post a picture.

I keep it on my home screen next to my rv.net short cut.

To post a picture, double click your newly created shortcut "RVnetPhoto". Drag the photo you want to post to the host window and drop. It will return a link. Just copy the link and past it into the rv.net message window.

You won't see the photo until after you post the message.

You'll get the hang of it after a few posts.

When you put it on a flat surface how much is it bowed? 1/4in or so?. As I remember mine it was not a composite meaning resin and fibers, it just looked like pure cast thermoplastic. It any case if it bent out of flat do to an incorrect install, I would lag the flange down to a flat work bench over night an see if the bow comes out. If it does it will be flat when you install it. You could also use a heat gun on low if you want to soften it a bit and get rid of the pre load on the flange.

Have a picture, but don't know how to post it on this forum.

How about a couple pics of this issue you are having. Thanks.

The tech who removed the toilet said it was a composite material that would break if he tried to flatten it. Apparently what happened was the toilet was improperly reinstalled after a defective blade was replaced. Glad to hear "a flange is a flange." Any recommendations as to best replacement would be appreciated.

Hum. I thought a flange was a flange. Did you look at picks of them both?

How can the plastic flange bend? Did you try replacing the seal?
