Will furnace run off coach batteries

Define "coach" batteries please. Are you referring to chassis batteries or the house batteries?

The gas fired furnace works off of the house batteries, so if that is what you are referring to as coach batteries, then the answer is Yes!

My dash heat works really well, but it's only meant to do the cab. With the engine running, you can run your propane furnace(s). When stopped, the furnace drains the batteries pretty quick. I can get about 24-hours out of mine with both furnaces running before I need to fire up the generator or engine to recharge.

I know there are strong opinions on both sides of the argument, but my manual says to shut off the propane at the tank when under way in case of an accident. However, I've also read that the vent systems on the RV furnaces are designed to work while you're moving. I've never tried to use my furnaces while moving but I wouldn't hesitate to try if I had to.

The aftermarket dash heat / A/C systems on most Class A's are dismal, especially when compared with the OEM dash systems in Class C's.

I've seen several Class A's with auxiliary 'bus heaters' added in various spots, usually under the dinette or behind the drivers seat.

As was stated above though, the furnace should run off the house batteries and alternator just fine while underway.

The dash heat should be able to supply adequate heat for the front of the rig so apparently something isn't working right. Defrost heat wasn't the best on our Pace, consider adding fans.

RV type furnaces run on 12 volts, so the answer to your question is:

Depends: Are the batteries properly charged, If so, YES.

NOTE: as the batteries run down the furnace may start to blow,,,, but never light.

Note 2: Home furnaces light, then blow warm air.

RV furnaces start the blower first, THEN the burner.

Ther reason for this is that there is a device that senses air flow (Sail Switch) the reason for this is to make sure air is flowing because if you start the burner without air flow bad things happen.. If the batteries run down there is not enough air flow so it will not light.

Yes if your batteries are good. We have boondocked several times using batteries.
Run your genset a few hours and make sure your batteries are good.
