Window awning repair???

When you post your picture, only fill one of the size blanks. That works best for me. The other dimension will size itself and your picture won't be distorted like the one in your post. I usually use 600 or 800 for the picture width unless I want it smaller, then 200 works nicely.

You image is 278w x 370h pixels before being distorted but it's still blurred.

You won't be able to move that rubber bead back as long as the awning is under pressure.

So are u saying I would have to take the entire awning off and then rewind it and remount??? YIKES..

I had same problem. Someone on here recommed, and it worked... inched back in using a fish hook and line. Pulled little by little after finding sweet spot of very little tension. Took awhile but was successful.

Take all the tension off the awning before trying anything. The awning should be slack and flopping before trying to move the bead. It's funny how easy it is to pull it out more but how it won't slide back in.

Pulling it all the way out and sliding a wire through the opening attached to the bead might work. Be sure there's nothing that might get hooked inside the fabric as you pull it back in. Maybe better with some heave fishing line? Poke/drill a tiny hole to loop the line through. Hold the far end of the awning fabric so it won't bunch up while trying to pull the bead back in from the other side. A little silicone spray might help it slide.

Interesting idea. I would lock the far end of the roller to relieve all tension.

That might be the quickest or only way to get the poly cord back in.

After researching how to replace the awning my son and I removed the awning, replaced the fabric and remounted in 1 hour. Actually all 4 in 4 1/2 hours, so not rocket science.
